One in seven women will be diagnosed with breast cancer, but more than 50% of women don’t recognise the early signs of the disease.
In its seventh year of championing breast cancer awareness, Lorraine's Change + Check campaign has announced the launch of ‘National Check Your Boobs Day’, an annual event on 1 October dedicated to raising awareness for the importance of proactive attitudes towards breast health.
The new awareness day aims to be a crucial reminder for everyone to make self-checking a regular monthly habit.
The goal is to provide the public with clear, actionable information on how to perform a self-check and identify signs of breast cancer, as early detection is crucial for better treatment outcomes and saving lives.
To support, Boots is placing Change + Check reminders in all of its 1,500 pharmacy consultation rooms across the country with pharmacists prepped and ready to answer customers' breast health questions.
Claire Nevinson, Superintendent Pharmacist at Boots, said: “We are thrilled to support the ITV Lorraine Change + Check campaign. It is such a simple prompt for everyone to self-check and be aware of the signs and symptoms of breast cancer. At Boots, we’re with you for life, and that includes at your most difficult times, so if anyone has any questions or concerns about cancer, please come and talk to one of our expert colleagues in store.”
