Boots supports Macmillan this World Cancer Day
In the UK almost one in two of us will receive a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime. That is why Boots and Macmillan Cancer Support want to give everyone the cancer information and support they need, offering a range of accessible support services in stores across the UK.
Our Macmillan-trained specialists are always on hand to offer their support. We have over 2,200 Boots Macmillan Information Pharmacists trained to understand different types of cancer, treatment and able to answer questions about medication, with training now extended to Boots Macmillan Pharmacy Technicians too. We have 600 Boots Macmillan Beauty Advisors with advice and tips to manage the visible side effects of cancer and its treatment. Our more recent addition of Boots Macmillan Optician Professionals includes around 700 specialists who can support those living with eye-related cancers as well as those experiencing ocular side effects from cancer treatment, such as dry, sensitive and sore eyes.
In addition to our services, our partnership with Macmillan has raised over £22m since its start, and we’re pleased to announce that in 2024, Boots customers and colleagues have fundraised an incredible £1.1m!
For World Cancer Day, Macmillan asked their partners to ‘unite voices and take action’ by being seen in green. Hear first-hand from some of our Macmillan trained team members:
