  • Boots and Macmillan place second for Most Admired Corporate-NGO partnership in the 2022 C&E Barometer
  • The partnership was commended for the launch of Boots free Palliative Care Service as well as tackling sun safety with Boots Soltan
  • The new list represents the fourth consecutive year the partnership has been in the top two

The partnership between Boots and Macmillan Cancer Support has been named as one of the Most Admired corporate-NGO partnerships in this year’s C&E Barometer.

The Barometer ranks partnerships between businesses and charities based on peer scores across businesses and non-government organisations when asked who they admire most.

Boots and Macmillan have now placed in one of the top positions in the report four years in a row after being first from 2018 to 2021, demonstrating impressive willingness to evolve and keep moving from strength to strength.

This year, the partnership was recognised for its central role in the launch of the Boots Palliative Care Service, training Boots Macmillan Information Pharmacists (BMIPs) to be able to offer end-of-life care and advice to terminally ill cancer patients and their loved-ones.

BMIPs were also expanded to be accessible from every Boots store in the UK, making this vital service more available than ever before.

Boots and Macmillan were additionally credited for their focus supporting sun safety in the hot summer months, where Boots Soltan was named the official Sun Safety Partner of Macmillan. Together, the partnership raised awareness of the importance of sun safety and boldly drew a line in the sand for Soltan SPF ratings on Boots shelves – no longer selling or producing any products lower than SPF50 for kids and SPF15 for adults.

Natalie Gourlay, Head of Sustainability at Boots UK said: “We are incredibly proud to once again be recognised so highly in this year’s C&E Barometer. It is credit to our teams both at Boots and Macmillan who have put in hard work all year round to continue to grow our partnership, spot opportunities where we can make a difference, and execute in our campaigns. We’re already looking at what we can do this year to continue to make our Most Admired partnership even more special.”

Manny Amadi, Chief Executive of C&E Advisory, said: “Partnerships such as the much-admired collaboration between Boots and Macmillan thrive best when they are purpose-led, are centred on a shared problem to be solved, and when each partner brings unique insights and assets, and contributes equally, though necessarily differently."

To date, the partnership has raised an incredible £20 million through Boots customers and employees, funding vital cancer care services offered by Macmillan. You can find more information on our partnership on our dedicated Macmillan page.
