The Boots UK – Macmillan Cancer Support partnership has been voted the Most Admired Corporate-NGO Partnership in the C&E Barometer 2019, a report resulting from an in-depth survey gauging the views of professionals from some of the UK’s and the world’s foremost companies and NGOs.

Each year, the Barometer ranks the most exemplary partnerships by asking survey respondents drawn from UK and internationally leading companies and NGOs about the corporate-NGO partnerships they particularly admire. The Boots UK – Macmillan Cancer Support partnership has been recognised for its strategic fit, big impact, longevity, strong clear communications and mutual benefit.

In July 2018, Boots UK measured the reach and impact of the BMIP and BMBA roles through a survey of stores. Quantitative data based on averages indicated that BMIPs have had more than 92,000 conversations with people living with or affected by cancer, and BMBAs have delivered more than 44,500 beauty consultations helping people to cope with the visible signs of living with cancer

Una Kent, Director of CSR and Communications at Boots, said: “Cancer affects so many people and is one of the hardest fights a person and their family can face. For ten years this incredible partnership has been brought to life by our wonderful colleagues who give their time and care to both our patients and their families and friends.

“Together with Macmillan we hope to make this journey just a little easier; whether it’s advice and help with taking and understanding medicines or just some friendly tips on managing side effects.  Boots and Macmillan work together to help people living with cancer feel a bit more like themselves again.”

Boots UK and Macmillan Cancer Support have been working in partnership for ten years to improve access to cancer support and information on the high street. This includes over 2,000 Boots Macmillan Information Pharmacists who are specially trained to offer advice on living with cancer.

There are more than 900 Boots Macmillan Beauty Advisors stationed in Boots stores around the UK. Specially trained by Macmillan, they offer free face-to-face support with managing the visible side effects of cancer treatment. Since the partnership started, Boots UK employees and customers have also raised over £18 million to support Macmillan’s life-changing services.
