This International Women’s Day, Boots is marking the importance of putting women’s health at the forefront, celebrating a major step in supporting health equity for women across the UK.
Boots has recently announced its biggest ever healthcare campaign that puts women’s experiences at its centre, including introducing new training for its 4,500 pharmacists on four key areas of women’s health: periods, fertility, pregnancy and menopause. The campaign highlights the expanding number of healthcare services available in store and online, including over 15 dedicated women’s healthcare services like the Boots Online Doctor Menopause and HRT Treatment service,** alongside an expansion of its Price Advantage scheme to include a wide range of women’s health products.*
Claire Nevinson, Superintendent Pharmacist at Boots, said: “At Boots we’ve been championing women’s health for over 170 years. It’s great that over the last few years there’s been more awareness and conversation around women’s healthcare areas like menopause and periods. At Boots, we are taking an active part in that conversation and provide our customers great value products and services that they can conveniently access online and in our stores.”
This campaign runs across International Women’s Day, for which, the theme is #EmbraceEquity. The concept of true inclusion and offering women the access to what’s required to succeed is embedded into the foundations of Boots.
This started with one of Boots founders, Florence Boot who was appointed to be one of the first ever female directors in the UK over 100 years ago. Florence had many personal initiatives to help the women in her workforce succeed, including offering additional schooling and breakfasts before they started their working day as she noticed that some of her staff were starting work hungry.
This underpinning of creating equitable solutions for women has continued through to this day, both through how its support it’s customers and patients and its team members, of which 80% are women. Last year, Boots announced that it would cover the NHS prescription payments for any team member affected by the menopause who wishes to take HRT.
To mark International Women’s Day, we’ve listened to the stories of five of our inspiring team members, who are working tirelessly to #EmbraceEquity:
