Boots UK highlights benefits of vitamin D following Health Secretary's announcement

Following increased conversation around the benefits of taking a Vitamin D supplement as well as the Health Secretary’s announcement urging people to take the Vitamin, in the last 4 weeks alone Boots UK has sold 9 vitamin D products every minute.

Boots Chief Pharmacist Marc Donovan comments: “Following the latest statement from the Health Secretary, now more than ever it is being encouraged that people consider taking a vitamin D supplement, as research is currently being undertaken to assess whether having the appropriate level of vitamin D in the body can reduce the risk a person has of a poor outcome of a COVID-19 infection. We already know that vitamin D plays lots of important roles within the body including regulating the amount of calcium and phosphate we need, keeping our bones healthy and supporting the normal function of the immune system. The Department of Health already recommends that everyone aged 5 and over, including pregnant and breastfeeding women considers taking a daily supplement containing 10mcg of vitamin D during autumn and winter[1] and people more susceptible to a vitamin D deficiency, such as those who cover up most of their skin when outside or do not spend a lot of time outdoors, should take one all year round.”

To help make vitamin D supplements accessible to all, Boots has a 3 for 2 offer across selected vitamins on www.boots.com and has introduced a new offer where shoppers can buy the best-selling Boots vitamin D 10mcg 90 tablets for only £1 when you buy selected Boots cough and cold products.

Boots stocks a range of vitamin D products, including*:
