- Boots pharmacist encourages customers to order repeat prescriptions by 11 April to ensure it arrives before Easter
- The run up to the Easter bank holiday weekend is one of the busiest times of the year for Boots for dispensing prescriptions
- Customers signed up to the Boots Online Prescription can now receive tracking updates including when they’re ready to collect from store
With the week before Easter being typically one of the busiest weeks for dispensing, Boots is reminding people to order their NHS repeat prescriptions early, to ensure they receive their prescription in good time before the bank holiday weekend.
Boots Pharmacist Bina Mehta advises patients who are signed up to the Boots Online Prescriptions service or have nominated Boots to dispense their prescription via the NHS app, to place their prescription orders by Friday, 11 April, to help ensure they have enough medication over the Easter bank holiday weekend.
Bina said: “With many GP surgeries operating limited hours over the Easter weekend, I always advise my patients to order their NHS prescription earlier than usual, to give enough time for your GP surgery to approve your prescription so that it can be sent to and dispensed by your local pharmacy. To ensure you’re not without your medicines over the Easter bank holiday, I recommend my patients get their orders in by 11 April at the latest.”
Boots has made several updates to its Boots Online Prescriptions Service, * including:
- FREE home delivery offered to patients in England signed up to Boots Online Prescriptions
- Tracking updates at every stage of the prescription’s journey to the patient, including when it is ready to collect from store or will arrive in the post
- A free text messaging service that enables regular updates on prescriptions to be sent direct to a customer's phone
- Integration with the NHS app so customers who have nominated Boots to dispense their prescriptions can order medicines using their NHS number
Patients ordering their prescriptions by 11 April will ensure that their prescription will be dispensed by Boots by 17 April. Some Boots stores are open over the Easter bank holidays and patients are encouraged to check their local store’s opening times via https://www.boots.com/store-locator.
Bina added: “Easter is one of the busiest times of the year for us in the pharmacy at Boots as we try to ensure that our patients have their prescription dispensed, before the four-day bank holiday weekend. But with a bit of forward planning, there’s no need to worry and tools like Boots Online Prescriptions and the NHS app integration make it easy for people with busy schedules to get their prescriptions.”
