Customers using PrescriptionsPlus* can now receive tracking updates at every stage, including when prescriptions are ‘ready to collect’ in store
With the week before Easter typically being one of the busiest weeks for dispensing, Boots is reminding people to order their NHS repeat prescriptions early, to ensure they receive their prescription in good time before the bank holiday weekend.
Boots Pharmacist Whitney Lodovica advises patients who are signed up to Boots PrescriptionPlus service or have nominated Boots to dispense their prescription via the NHS app, to place their prescription orders by Friday, 27 March, to help ensure they have enough medication over the Easter bank holiday weekend.
PrescriptionsPlus offers a seamless repeat prescriptions service, that simplifies the process of managing NHS repeat prescriptions.
Whitney said: “With many GP surgeries operating limited hours over the Easter weekend, I always advise my patients to order their NHS prescription earlier than usual, to give enough time for your GP surgery to approve your prescription so that it can be sent to and dispensed by your local pharmacy. Easter is even earlier this year, so to ensure you’re not without your medicines over the bank holiday, I recommend my patients get their orders in by 27 March at the latest.”
Customers using the online service can track their prescription journey at every step from ordering it via the Boots or NHS app to delivery or collection. Real-time updates via text message are also available throughout the process, including when the prescription is ready to collect and reorder reminders.
Alongside Click and Collect in store, PrescriptionsPlus also unlocks free home delivery in England for busy customers who cannot get to a Boots store.
Patients ordering their prescriptions by 27 March will ensure that their prescription will be dispensed by Boots before Friday 3 April. Customers can track progress throughout, including when prescriptions are ready to collect in store.
Whitney added: “Easter is one of the busiest times of the year for us in the pharmacy as we try to ensure that our patients have their prescription dispensed, before the four-day bank holiday weekend. But with a bit of forward planning, there’s no need to worry and tools like PrescriptionPlus and the NHS app integration make it easy for people with busy schedules to get their prescriptions.”
Some Boots stores are open over the Easter bank holidays and patients are encouraged to check their local store’s opening times via https://www.boots.com/store-locator.
