Boots gears up for its biggest ever Black Friday

04 November 2024
News Christmas
  • Boots kicks off its biggest ever Black Friday month with over 22,000 promotions running throughout November
  • The leading health and beauty retailer anticipates its customers will plan ahead more than ever this year, carefully considering what big-ticket items they will buy in advance while looking for opportunistic ‘little luxuries’
  • Boots is recruiting over 8,250 team members across its stores, warehouses, and customer service centre to support its peak trading period and now has 200 ‘cobots’ ready to assist team members in its Burton warehouse – 50 more than last year

Boots has kick started its biggest Black Friday sales event, with over 22,000 promotions in November and the most offers on Black Friday weekend (29 November until 2 December).

With Black Friday falling on payday for many this year, Boots expects shoppers will be carefully planning their big-ticket item purchases, as well as leaving room for opportunist smaller luxuries to top up their baskets ahead of the festive season.

Becca Hitchings, General Merchandising Business Unit Director, said: “Black Friday is now very much a part of the Christmas trading period – or ‘golden quarter’ – rather than a separate sales event. At Boots we have fantastic offers running throughout November, culminating in our biggest Black Friday weekend ever.

“With this Black Friday falling later in the month and on payday for many people, we’re expecting customers to plan their purchases to get the best prices on their big-ticket items. We also predict that customers will spend opportunistically on smaller items and ‘little luxuries’ throughout the month and over Black Friday weekend as a treat for themselves, as well as stocking filler gifts for their loved ones.”

This month, Boots will run incredible offers on a wide range of products including premium beauty, baby, fragrance and electrical beauty, many of which will be more than half price. Brands include Clinique, Oral B, Cybex, Gucci, Too Faced and YSL.

Boots has spent months preparing for its busiest peak trading period, with stores and boots.com anticipating high demand. It has hired an additional 8,250 team members across its stores (5,000), customer service centres (350) and warehouses (3,000), with many temporary Christmas team members staying on permanently to build successful careers at Boots.

Across its distribution centres in Nottingham and Burton, Boots has increased its capacity by 20% since last year’s peak trading period to fulfil more customer orders quicker. At its biggest distribution centre in Burton, which is at the heart of the boots.com operation, Boots has invested in a further 50 ‘cobots’ – collaborative robots – that assist team members with the safe and efficient picking and packing of customer orders, bringing the total number of cobots at the warehouse to 200.

Customers can also benefit from superfast deliveries on their Black Friday purchases via Boots partnership with Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Just Eat, now available from over 370 stores across the UK. Additionally, the Boots Click & Collect service is a great way to shop over the Christmas period, with customers able to buy online for delivery to their local store from the very next day, available in over 1,700 stores.

Current Black Friday offers include:

In addition to its biggest ever Black Friday, Boots has a packed programme of Christmas gifts at great value, including:
