Today, Boots and No7 Beauty Company are proudly supporting Purple Tuesday to highlight the needs of disabled customers and patients.
Purple Tuesday was established by Purple, a disability organisation which supports businesses to improve the disabled customer experience.
Boots is a founding partner of Purple Tuesday and the Health and Beauty Sector Sponsor for the fourth year in a row. Being part of Purple Tuesday has supported its efforts to create a more inclusive shopping environment for disabled customers and patients.
In stores, Boots has introduced Hidden Disability Sunflower and Dementia Friend schemes alongside inclusivity training for team members. Assistive technology has been introduced on boots.com to enable visitors to adapt the site to meet their needs.
Boots also offers its iconic Christmas Gift Guide in braille and audio and is highlighting its availability in the run up to Christmas.
This year, Boots has also continued its development of an initiative to review the packaging of its own-brand products to ensure they are as accessible as they can be.
It has been working with inclusive design specialists from Purple Tuesday alongside a panel of disabled product users to understand barriers to accessibility and identify opportunities to make our wider offering more inclusive.
Boots has completed a product and packaging accessibility audit across its health and beauty ranges and have used these findings to develop interactive training in inclusive product design for team members and develop guidance documents to support product design teams.
Jamie Kerruish, Healthcare Director at Boots, said: “At Boots we’re committed to making the shopping experience the best it can be for people with a disability, both in our stores and online.
“We’re delighted to support Purple Tuesday for the fourth year running. It’s such an important initiative.
“We’ve introduced several initiatives to help create an even more inclusive shopping environment for our disabled customers since we first partnered with Purple.
“We encourage other retailers and brands to join us in our support of Purple to bring us all together to make the customer experience for disabled people and their families.”
