  • With games running into the early hours, Boots is rolling out extended on demand delivery hours up to midnight in cities across the UK
  • During the England matches Suncare SPF orders almost doubled** as England fans soaked up the summer sun before settling in for the game

As football fever sweeps the nation, new data from Boots and Deliveroo has revealed an increased need for convenience shopping. Fans are turning to on-demand essentials so they don’t miss a moment of the action - and so they can recover from the night before!

With thousands of customers choosing delivery to their homes - or even the pub - instead of dashing to the shops mid-game, it’s clear that convenience is the real MVP of the tournament. But as late-night kick-offs are keeping fans up well into the night, those shopping needs don't stop when the final whistle blows.

To keep pace with the late-night essentials, Boots is now offering extended opening hours up to midnight across 25 new locations via Deliveroo. Some trending Boots orders around the game so far include:

The outdoor fan:

  • With England's kick-offs landing on warm summer evenings, fans seem to be heading outdoors to watch the games. Suncare SPF orders on Boots increased by almost 200%, as well as hayfever tablets by over 80% in the hours ahead of England games so far.*

The recovery:

  • Morning-after recovery is real, with ibuprofen orders on Boots rising over 50%**

Paula Bobbett, Chief Digital and Data Officer at Boots, said: “There’s no ‘nipping to the shops’ in the 75th minute of the England game, but we get that some things can’t wait and convenience matters – from a nappy blow-out emergency or a last-minute beauty fix ahead of celebrations. Now Boots can come to you, wherever you are with more evening and late-night delivery options for customers across the country.”

Suzy McClintock, VP Consumer and New Verticals at Deliveroo said: "Football tournaments have a unique way of keeping the nation glued to their screens and nobody wants to risk missing a goal because they had to nip out for essentials. By extending our late-night delivery service with Boots to 25 new locations, we're making it easier than ever for fans to get what they need, when they need it. Whether you're celebrating a win at home or need a quick halftime fix delivered straight to the pub, we’ve got your match-day emergencies covered.".

Boots on-demand is available in 500 stores across the UK through Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Just Eat. Customers can check delivery partner apps to see if their local Boots store offers the late-night delivery service.
