  • This first-to-market feature empowers patients with timely alerts, giving them greater control over their health

Boots today launches a new prescription text reminder service, as research reveals that 30-50% of adults do not take their medicine as prescribed, citing forgetting to order medicines and managing multiple medicines as the key reasons for poor adherence2

The new service is designed to help patients manage their repeat medication more effectively and improve medicines adherence.

Customers signed up to the service will receive a text message prompt when their repeat prescription is approaching its re-order date. This initiative builds on the success of PrescriptionsPlus Online, Boots current prescription offering where 43% of online repeat prescriptions are directly ordered through an email reminder prompt3.

Anne Higgins, Pharmacy Director at Boots, said: “We understand that life can be busy and remembering to re-order repeat prescriptions can be a challenge. Missing medication can have a real impact on a person's health, so in the last year we’ve launched PrescriptionsPlus  making the customer journey from order to collection of prescriptions seamless. This service gives customers access to real time order tracking, integration with the NHS app*, free delivery* and now text message re-order reminders, making medication easier to manage than ever before.”

Boots launched PrescriptionsPlus*, its rebranded and enhanced repeat prescriptions service that simplifies the process of managing NHS repeat prescriptions. It allows customers to track their prescription journey at every step, from ordering via the Boots or NHS app, through to delivery or collection.

In addition to Click & Collect in store, PrescriptionsPlus also unlocks free home delivery in England for busy customers who are unable to visit a Boots store.

*Free delivery via Royal Mail is only available for patients registered with a GP in England. The option to collect in-store is available for all customers registered with a participating GP anywhere in the UK. Charges may apply for delivery from store. Subject to availability. Participating surgeries only. Prescription charges may apply. Sign up to the text messaging service is required. Tracking available when ordering via Boots.com.
