Boots UK, Unilever and WE work together to help shoppers support 100,000 children in the UK
Unilever, the UK’s no.1 personal care manufacturer[1], is working together with the UK’s leading pharmacy-led health and beauty retailer, Boots UK, in a bid to raise £100,000 to help 100,000 children to build their confidence and resilience through WE’s educational programme, WE Schools.
Between 30th August and 26th September 2017, exclusively in Boots stores across the UK, customers will be able to stock up on their favourite Unilever products, whilst also making a difference to children’s education. From each product sale of Unilever’s best-selling brands: Dove, Simple, Lynx, Vaseline, Dove Men Care and Impulse, 4p will be donated to WE as part of their WE Schools programme in the UK.
WE is an organisation that brings people together and gives them the tools to change the world locally and globally. Its educational programme, WE Schools, provides schools with free educational resources—from lesson plans and campaigns, to motivational assemblies and workshops—to inspire young people to take social action and become positive change-makers in their school, family and community.
Sebastian Munden, General Manager, Unilever UK & Ireland, said: “We are thrilled to be working together with Boots UK for the first time on such a purpose-driven initiative that really gives back to local communities and supports the ambition of our Sustainable Living Plan. The money raised through this activity will make a real change to the lives of over 100,000 children across the UK, and as a company we have committed to a minimum donation of £100,000, but hope this could be more.”
With Boots stores in every community across the UK, customers will be able to help support the important WE Schools programme from across the breadth and depth of the country.
Richard Reed, Trading Director, Boots UK & ROI, comments: “Our purpose is to champion everyone’s right to feel good, and we’re committed to supporting young people. We’re excited to be working with Unilever and WE to give our customers a chance to contribute through their purchases and help make a positive difference to the lives of children across the UK.”
The promotion will be supported in Boots stores with prominent feature space including POS, window posters and gondolas.
With every purchase of selected Unilever products, shoppers can go online to boots.com/help-local-schools and input their barcode to find out more about the impact of the WE Schools programme across the UK, and nominate a school to get involved.
Holly Branson, Co-Chair of WE Day UK comments: “WE Schools empowers young people to create positive change in our world. The free, year-long programme supports students from across the UK to appreciate and understand local and global issues—from homelessness and equality to climate change and poverty—and to challenge them by taking action. Through sponsored walks, volunteering projects, litter picks and so on, young people are learning that they have the power to shape their futures and make a lasting difference. Students’ hard work is celebrated at WE Day UK—a very special youth empowerment event that brings together 12,000 young people with world renowned celebrities, performers and speakers. WE Day is our way of giving something back to the young people who are giving back to the world! These incredible children and young adults truly are the compassionate leaders of tomorrow.”
*From 30th August 2017 to 26th September 2017, 4p from selected Unilever products purchased will be donated directly to WE Charity to deliver the WE Schools programme, with a minimum donation of £100,000. Subject to availability. See in store for details.
