Foresterhill Health Centre was officially opened earlier today by NHS Grampian Chairman Professor Stephen Logan.
The health centre houses two GP practices, Elmbank Group Practice and Westburn Medical Group, and serves more than 15,000 patients by providing over 1,000 appointments a week.
The 3-storey health centre hosts a Boots pharmacy as well as provides a base for staff from Aberdeen City Health and Social Care Partnership.
Lynne Irvine, Pharmacist Store Manager for the new Boots Pharmacy in Foresterhill Health Centre, said: “We’re delighted to be working in partnership with Foresterhill Health Centre, and to be opening our new pharmacy today. Caring for patients is at the heart of what we do, so we know that the brand new pharmacy will be an excellent addition to the centre. This partnership means that we’re not only located where customers want and need us most, but also allows us to work together to support patient care in the local community, making a real difference to people’s health and wellbeing.”
The Partnership team includes Health Visitors, District Nurses, Community Midwifery, Occupational Therapy as well as Direct Delivery and Care Management teams. The health centre will also offer dedicated space for Allied Health Professionals who will provide Speech and Language Therapy, Podiatry and Dietetics.
NHS Grampian Chairman, Professor Stephen Logan, said: “We are delighted to formally mark the opening of Foresterhill Health Centre. This is a great moment for us as an organisation but, more important, is the difference the facility will make for thousands of patients.
“In addition to the vastly enhanced GP facilities for Elmbank and Westburn, the new health centre allows us to bring together staff from across a range of disciplines in a single setting. That will have real benefits by allowing health and social care staff to work together to provide a seamless service.”
