Collecting outpatient prescriptions from Basildon University Hospital will soon be easier and quicker for patients thanks to a new partnership with Boots UK.
A new outpatient pharmacy managed by Boots UK is set to open at the hospital on Thursday 8 October 2015. Located next to the main outpatient department, the new pharmacy will be open weekdays, 9am-6pm. At the weekend, outpatient prescriptions can be collected from the hospital pharmacy (where the pharmacy is now), 9.30am–1pm.
Clare Panniker, Chief Executive at Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said: “We know that patients can get frustrated about having to wait too long to collect their prescription from our busy pharmacy. This new arrangement with Boots UK will offer them a speedier service and will also allow our hospital pharmacy team to focus on the medication for patients staying in hospital.”
Peter Bainbridge, Director of Pharmacy, Boots UK added: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals to help offer their patients the best possible pharmacy service. We are continuously seeking opportunities to provide better healthcare solutions and this partnership not only ensures we are located where customers want and need us most, but also allows us to work together to support patient care in the local community and make a real difference to people’s health and well-being.”
