Boots and Public Health England (PHE) are combining their reach and expertise to encourage one million people to take action to improve their health in a new three-year partnership.
The collaboration kicks off in January 2020 with the launch of the Reboot Quiz. Hosted on Boots.com, the interactive questionnaire uses PHE’s evidence-based approach to ask customers simple questions to assess their behaviour on a range of topics including eating and drinking habits, smoking, daily stress and exercise. Customers can then choose to continue on their Reboot journey and receive personalised product and service recommendations.
Recent research emphasises the importance of helping people find ways to improve their lifestyle:
- Over half of adults in England are at increased risk of chronic disease due to their waist circumference and BMI[1]
- 1 in 3 adults are classified as being physically inactive1
- 28% of adults have high blood pressure1
- 18% of men and 15% of women are smokers1
Commenting on the partnership, Sebastian James, Managing Director, Boots UK said: “For 170 years Boots has tried to help people live the healthiest lives that they can and I think that this partnership with Public Health England is what we are all about. By combining our experience and the huge number of people who shop with us, with PHE's unparalleled expertise and knowledge, we think that we can help millions of people become healthier and happier. I hope that everybody will use the quiz on our website and follow the personalised advice that we send. For sure I will be using it to set my own New Year resolutions!”
Duncan Selbie, Chief Executive at Public Health England said: “Unhealthy lifestyles continue to cost the NHS around £11 billion every year and potentially preventable health risks cause 40% of ill health and early death in the population[2]. We know that simple changes can lead to huge health benefits. This collaboration with Boots puts public health expertise right in the hands of people looking to make a difference to their health.”
