Boots UK and Macmillan Cancer Support have been named as the second ‘most admired’ partnership this week in the annual C&E Corporate–NGO Partnerships Barometer for our work to help make sure no one faces cancer alone.
At Boots UK, we want to have a positive impact on the lives of those affected by cancer by giving them what they need at the right time. Our partnership with Macmillan means we have been able to significantly increase the amount of cancer information and support we can give to our customers in accessible and trusted high street stores, in the community, as well as online.
The partnership maintained second place in the rankings for the fourth year in a row, and it was recognised for being “brand and mission-led” with a focus on “customer and supporter care”.
Marc Donovan, Chief Pharmacist at Boots UK, said: “Seven years ago we embarked on a new partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support, to help them reach every person affected by cancer, as we recognised that by working together we can do even more to offer access to support and information. Together we have trained more than 2,000 Boots Macmillan Information Pharmacists and over 600 Boots Macmillan Beauty Advisors, colleagues who have volunteered for additional training so they can offer support to cancer patients and their loved ones both in our stores and out in the communities they live and work in. We are incredibly proud that the commitment of Boots’ colleagues to this partnership has once again been recognised by the C&E Partnerships Barometer, and we look forward to continuing to build on the partnership’s success in the future.”
Chief Executive of Macmillan Cancer Support Lynda Thomas said: “After seven years of working together it’s an honour that our partnership with Boots continues to be recognised for improving access to cancer information and support for people affected by cancer across the UK. We would like to thank Boots colleagues and customers for their continued support and fundraising efforts.”
Our partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support began in 2009. Fundraising across our customers, colleagues, suppliers and partners has raised more than £12 million for the charity.
The annual C&E Corporate–NGO Partnerships Barometer report looks at partnerships between UK-based corporations and non-Governmental organisations (NGOs), and it’s ‘most admired’ accolade is awarded to UK businesses and charity partners.
