Boots UK is one of 22 businesses in Nottinghamshire to virtually open its doors to students for the return of the Grads4Nottm scheme. Now in its sixth year, the programme raises awareness of the wide range of employment opportunities open to graduates in the region.

With its Head Office based in Beeston, Boots gave four students from Nottingham Trent University the chance to find practical solutions to real-life challenges faced by the company.

Between 8-19 June, these students were tasked with developing a frictionless on-boarding journey for new colleagues. From identifying key opportunities, brainstorming ideas, and providing long-term solutions, colleagues from across Boots UK were on hand to share their expertise and guide them through the experience.

To celebrate the final day of the programme, each student had one last challenge to tackle. All four candidates proudly took part in a live, virtual webinar to present their completed tasks and share the progress they had made during their two-week learning journey.

Hayley Dennett, Recruitment Manager for Early Careers and Education at Boots UK, said: “We have been a huge supporter and advocate of Grads4Nottm since it started 6 years ago. Even with the unprecedented changes that COVID-19 has brought, it was great to see Boots UK, Nottingham Trent University, and all the participating businesses move quickly to adapt and respond to a new digital format, which has proved to be really effective and insightful.”

“Grads4Nottms is a fantastic initiative. It has given us the opportunity to provide participants with a great snapshot into what it’s like to work for Boots UK, as well as meet some of our amazing colleagues, as well as improve their confidence ready for when they enter the job market.”

Amy Underwood, Business Services Consultant at NTU, said: “Grads4Nottm is in its 6th year and we are proud to be delivering the first ever Virtual Grads4Nottm. We have worked hard with our employers to deliver Grads4Nottm virtually and change to a truly digital way of working. Grads4Nottm is a fantastic initiative to showcase the opportunities and businesses in Nottingham to NTU’s students and graduates.  Students will get to experience working in a virtual environment whilst tackling a real-life business challenge for our employers.”
