Former airline pilot, James Clowes, proudly joined Boots UK’s Pharmacy Delivery and Collection team to help deliver medication to the vulnerable during the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the beginning of COVID-19, James was an Airline Pilot for Flybe, which unfortunately ceased operations earlier this year. Suddenly finding himself without a job and with little possibility of joining another airline, an opportunity at Boots soon presented itself and James’ career took off in a new direction.
James’ wife, who is also a Boots colleague, explained how the company was looking for additional drivers to join its Pharmacy Delivery and Collection team. Now, as one of over 500 newly recruited prescription delivery drivers, James is helping to deliver essential prescription medicines to the front doors of patients who are self-isolating or cannot get to their local pharmacy.
“I saw this as a fantastic opportunity to not only use my transferable skills, but to also join in with helping the vulnerable people in our communities,” explains James. “My new role with Boots has given me a purpose and allowed me to step up and play a part in all this. It’s also touching to know that my wife and I are just two among thousands of others who are doing their part on the frontline of health care.”
