Anthony Hemmerdinger

Anthony Hemmerdinger is Senior Vice President, President and Managing Director of Boots UK & ROI. He has over 30 years of experience in the retail and hospitality industry. Having started his formal retail career at M&S and spending 17 years with the business running stores and leading change programmes, he has since held senior leadership roles at some of the UK’s most recognisable retail and hospitality brands including Sainsbury’s, Carphone Warehouse, Greene King and Asda. His widespread experience of retail has seen him lead teams across stores, logistics, IT, strategy, property, supply chain and online. Prior to joining Boots, Anthony was COO of Asda where he was responsible for managing the store teams through the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, having previously been Senior Vice President of Retail Operations.

He began at Boots with a Saturday job as a teenager, before rejoining the business as Retail Director in September 2022, with responsibility for its store and central operations and latterly logistics functions. As a principal member of the Boots leadership team, he has helped guide the business through a successful transformation, which has delivered consistent growth across all categories. He has also spearheaded the significant beauty refit and brand expansion programme across stores and been instrumental in the delivery of the enhanced healthcare and beauty services offering instore.

He currently lives in Sheffield with his family and is based at Boots HQ in Nottingham.
