The Boots Blood Testing Service is the latest addition to the company's expanding range of over 200 in-store healthcare services, which include both NHS and paid-for services.
Boots launches its pilot Blood Testing Wellness Service across nine stores* in four cities across England. The new phlebotomy service has been launched in response to increasing demand from customers, with 59% saying they focus on prevention rather than waiting to treat conditions after they develop1.
The service, which takes just 15 minutes, includes a range of tests including general health, cholesterol, thyroid function, vitamin B12, testosterone, vitamins and minerals and weight management, supporting the 61% of adults who want to stay on track of their health and monitor changes.2
Gurdip Kaur Phlebotomist at Boots Birmingham said: “Blood tests can be a simple, yet valuable tool for adults. They can give you an insight into your health and help to spot any signs of potential issues. It’s a small step that can give you some control and help you take a proactive approach to your wellbeing.”
Building on its existing expertise in testing and diagnostics, Boots offers a fully integrated experience, from in-store sample collection through to results reviewed by a healthcare professional. During the service appointment, which can be booked online or in-store, a trained phlebotomist will take a blood sample in a private consultation room, which will then be sent to the laboratory and reviewed by a healthcare professional.
Each result will be available via the secure MyHealthChecked online dashboard within 48–72 hours. This will include a breakdown of results indicating borderline, low or normal, alongside a doctor's letter.
Jamie Kerruish, Chief Healthcare Officer at Boots said: “The launch of our blood-testing pilot helps provide customers with easy access to insights into their health, supporting preventative care and enabling support where needed. It builds on our broad range of services like the Vitamin B12 Service, allowing us to offer a seamless, end-to-end testing journey to customers, connecting them to expert advice from a clinician based on their results. This is a great example of how we can deliver accessible healthcare, right on the high street.”
Prices for the service range from £76–£136, depending on the tests selected and can be booked via boots.com.
With over 80% of the UK population living within 10 minutes of a Boots store and as part of its plans to make healthcare services more accessible on the high street, the new Blood Testing Wellness Service will be available at over 40 stores in the coming months, with more to follow.
