Boots has expanded its private In-Store Weight Loss Treatment Service to a further 44 stores across the UK* following the success of the in-store pilot launched last month in 17 stores. The service offers customers the option to access in-person advice and treatment for weight loss on the high-street.
The service includes an appointment in a private consultation room with a Pharmacist Independent Prescriber who has had training to prescribe medicines for weight loss.
During the consultation, the pharmacist will ask the customer a series of questions to get a full picture of their health and medical history to assess whether they are eligible for the service. The pharmacist will also conduct weight, height and BMI checks.
Following MHRA approval, Boots will also add the new oral Wegovy tablet to both its in-store and online weight loss offering this summer.
The new oral tablet* is an additional option for people living with obesity and those who have struggled to lose weight through lifestyle changes alone. Having an effective oral treatment available gives patients and healthcare professionals greater choice when considering the most appropriate treatment approach.
The private In-Store Weight Loss Treatment Service helps expand options available to customers alongside the existing weight loss support and expertise offered by Boots digitally through Boots Online Doctor.** Boots can offer medicated weight loss support digitally and in person, empowering customers to choose the option that works best for them.

Whether that's finding out more or understanding how treatment could fit alongside their lifestyle and any medication they may be already taking.
“During appointments we share all available options to help people understand the potential benefits and limitations, common adverse effects, and the importance of ongoing lifestyle measures alongside medication. The option to discuss treatment options right on the high-street can help provide personalised advice and reassurance for patients looking to start their weight loss journey."
Building on its extensive digital and clinical capabilities, Boots will signpost its in-store customers to the wide range of wrap-around resources on its Boots Online Doctor platform, which includes a 10-week free weight loss programme promoting sustainable lifestyle and behavioural changes, access to an app to track progress*** and a free 12-month aftercare programme**** for customers who have stopped medication. The 10-week free weight loss programme is available for free to anyone, whether they are accessing treatment from Boots or not.
The service is available to book online at boots.com or on a walk-in basis at participating stores and subject to Pharmacist Independent Prescriber availability.

****Available to customers who've used the Boots Online Doctor Weight Loss Treatment service for at least 6 consecutive months. The aftercare programme will come into effect 2 months after your final month of treatment and will be available for 12 months thereafter.
